Hezbollah has fired rockets and drones into northern Israel, saying the attack was a direct response to what it described as repeated Israeli violations of a U.S.-mediated ceasefire agreement.
The group said its strikes targeted Israeli military positions that had allegedly been involved in shelling southern Lebanon, accusing Israel of breaching the truce through continued attacks on civilians and infrastructure.
Israeli authorities confirmed the rocket fire from Lebanon and described it as a “blatant violation” of the ceasefire, stating that Israeli forces operating in southern Lebanon came under attack during the incident.
The escalation comes amid ongoing tensions following a fragile truce between the two sides, which has already seen multiple accusations of breaches since it took effect. Hezbollah maintains that it has documented over 200 alleged violations by Israel since the ceasefire began, including airstrikes and destruction of property in southern Lebanese villages.
Israeli officials, however, argue that their military presence in southern Lebanon is necessary to prevent further attacks and to maintain a security buffer zone along the border.
Despite the ceasefire agreement, sporadic exchanges of fire have continued, with both sides accusing each other of undermining the truce and escalating regional instability.
The latest confrontation highlights the fragility of the ceasefire arrangement and the persistent risk of renewed full-scale conflict along the Israel–Lebanon frontier.
