A second attack attributed to Yemen’s Houthi movement has reportedly struck the Riyadh airport area within 48 hours, leaving one person dead and 11 others injured, amid escalating regional security tensions.

One person has been killed and 11 others injured in a second attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, within two days, amid escalating hostilities involving Yemen’s Houthi rebels.

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation confirmed that the latest strike on Sunday killed a Pakistani national, while the injured were taken to hospitals for treatment.

The attack came a day after another strike on the airport killed at least 12 people and injured more than 300, according to Saudi authorities. An Indian national who was injured in Saturday’s attack subsequently died, bringing the reported death toll from that incident to 13.

The Saudi-led coalition fighting the Houthis said a projectile struck the airport’s passenger terminal, triggering a fire. Air defences also intercepted a missile near the airport.

The Houthis claimed responsibility for the attacks, threatening further strikes on Saudi Arabia’s transport hubs as tensions between the two sides intensified.

The latest incident prompted continued suspension of airport operations as authorities assessed the damage and conducted safety inspections.

The attacks have raised concerns about civilian safety and disruptions to regional air travel, with several foreign governments issuing security warnings to their citizens.

Saudi Arabia has long supported Yemen’s internationally recognised government against the Houthis, who control significant parts of the country.

The latest escalation adds to fears of a wider regional conflict, as diplomatic efforts and military responses continue to shape the security situation in the Middle East.
