Nigerian singer Seyi Vibez has removed controversial social media posts targeting celebrity chef Hilda Baci after her lawyers demanded their deletion and threatened legal action over alleged defamatory statements.

Nigerian singer Seyi Vibez has deleted controversial posts about celebrity chef Hilda Baci following a legal warning from her lawyers over alleged defamatory statements.

The development comes amid an ongoing dispute involving Seyi Vibez, music executive Damilola Akinwunmi, popularly known as Dapper, and several former artistes associated with Dapper Music.

Seyi Vibez had dragged Hilda Baci into the controversy after making allegations concerning her relationship with Dapper. Among other claims, he alleged that Dapper used artistes’ catalogue money to finance the chef’s cosmetic surgery and also claimed that food prepared by Hilda Baci had once made him seriously ill. The allegations have not been independently verified.

In a letter dated August 15, Hilda Baci’s legal representatives accused the singer of publishing “defamatory, malicious and false statements” about their client.

The lawyers reportedly said the disputed posts had attracted about 4.3 million views, 7,100 reposts, 3,000 comments and 45,000 likes, while also exposing Baci to what they described as persistent harassment and abusive messages online.

The legal team demanded the immediate and permanent removal of the posts and any related content. They also requested a clear public apology and retraction across Seyi Vibez’s social media platforms.

The singer was further given three days to provide a written undertaking that he would cease publishing, repeating or circulating any statements concerning Hilda Baci that could be considered defamatory or unlawful.

Seyi Vibez has now deleted the posts from his X account, although reports do not indicate that he has issued the requested public apology or retraction.

The controversy forms part of a wider dispute involving Dapper Music and some former artistes, who have raised allegations concerning royalties, contracts and financial dealings with the music executive. Those allegations remain disputed and have not been independently established.

The latest development appears to have shifted the dispute from social media exchanges towards potential legal proceedings, with attention now focused on whether the matter will be resolved following the removal of the posts or proceed to court.
