Nollywood actor Stan Nze has condemned the reported theft of several mobile phones during the service of songs held in honour of late actor Alexx Ekubo, describing the incident as both shocking and disheartening.
Speaking after the event, Nze revealed that more than five phones were reported stolen during the solemn gathering, which attracted family members, friends, colleagues and well-wishers who came to pay their last respects to the deceased actor. Among the reported victims were fellow entertainers, including actress BamBam and veteran actress Susan Peters.
The actor, who hosted the event, expressed disappointment that individuals could take advantage of a moment of grief and mourning to engage in criminal activities. He questioned the conscience of those responsible, arguing that such actions reflect a broader moral decline in society.
Nze noted that the incident goes beyond the loss of personal belongings and raises concerns about respect for communal values and empathy during difficult times. According to him, people often blame the government for societal challenges while ignoring the role individuals play in fostering or undermining social order.
