Youth leaders across Cross River have pledged their support for UNICROSS Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Bassey, recognising her youth-centred leadership and commitment to student welfare and development.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Prof. Francisca Bassey, has received the backing of youth leaders across Cross River State and been honoured as the “Most Youth-Friendly Vice-Chancellor.”

The recognition came during a courtesy visit by a delegation led by the State Youth Leader, Comrade Emmanuel Olayi. The delegation included members of the State Executive Council, Local Government Coordinators, the Chairman of the Councillors Forum, Hon. Princess Magdalene Ekpe, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Students’ Affairs, Comrade Elvis Enya.

The youth leaders commended Prof. Bassey’s youth-centred leadership and pledged to support her administration in promoting peace, stability and development at the university.

They also appreciated her support for youth initiatives, including environmental sanitation exercises, youth mobilisation programmes and National Youth Week activities.

The delegation further pledged to collaborate with the university in addressing challenges affecting young people, particularly drug abuse within the university community and the state.

Responding, Prof. Bassey reaffirmed her commitment to youth development, saying her belief in young people remained unwavering and that investing in them was an investment in the future of the university, Cross River State and Nigeria.
