A joint security operation involving Amotekun, the police, army, NSCDC and DSS has led to the arrest of 99 suspected criminals across Ondo State as authorities intensify efforts against informants aiding kidnapping, robbery and cult-related activities

Security agencies in Ondo State have intensified their crackdown on criminal networks and informants, leading to the arrest of 99 suspects during coordinated raids across several parts of the state.

The operation, carried out jointly by the Ondo State Police Command, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, targeted criminal hideouts and flashpoints linked to kidnapping, armed robbery, burglary, cultism and other violent crimes.

Police spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said the intelligence-driven raids were part of renewed security efforts aimed at dismantling criminal cells and cutting off local informants accused of aiding kidnappers and other criminal gangs operating within the state.

According to security officials, several incriminating items and suspected stolen properties were recovered during the operations, while suspects are currently undergoing screening and profiling before prosecution.

The development comes amid growing concerns over the role of local collaborators and informants in rising kidnapping cases across parts of Ondo State. Earlier security operations by Amotekun had exposed the involvement of some motorcycle riders and residents accused of supplying information and logistics to criminal groups.

Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, commended the collaboration among security agencies, stressing that inter-agency cooperation remains vital in tackling insecurity and restoring public confidence. He also urged residents to continue providing credible information to security operatives to aid ongoing operations.
