President Bola Tinubu has ordered the timely release of all funds accruable to Nigeria’s regional development commissions to accelerate development across the country.
The President gave the directive while declaring open the first North Central Development Commission Stakeholders Summit in Abuja.
Tinubu charged the commissions to use public funds responsibly and ensure that their projects unlock the economic and industrial potential of their respective regions.
He warned against the execution of white elephant projects, stressing that government funding must not become a channel for wasting public resources.
The President also encouraged the commissions to explore alternative sources of financing, including public-private partnerships, donor funding and development financing where permitted by law.
Tinubu said the Federal Government would continue to provide political and financial support to the North Central Development Commission and other regional commissions to implement key development projects.
