Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho has expressed optimism about continuing his stay at Celtic F.C. following an impressive campaign that saw the Scottish giants secure both the league title and the Scottish Cup.
The former Leicester City F.C. forward joined Celtic on a one-year deal last summer after leaving Sevilla FC and quickly became a fan favourite with several decisive performances throughout the season.
Speaking after Celtic’s Scottish Cup victory over Dunfermline Athletic F.C., Iheanacho said he was enjoying life in Glasgow and would love to continue with the club next season. He praised the supporters and described the city as a welcoming environment for him.
The Nigerian striker played a crucial role during Celtic’s title run-in, scoring important late goals against teams such as Motherwell F.C. and Hibernian F.C. to keep the club’s championship hopes alive.
Reports indicate that Celtic hold an option to extend Iheanacho’s contract for another season, although the club is yet to make a final decision ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 29-year-old finished the season with nine goals in 24 appearances across competitions and capped off the campaign by scoring in Celtic’s Scottish Cup final triumph
