United States President Donald Trump has tempered expectations over a possible Middle East deal with Iran, saying negotiators should not “rush” ongoing talks despite reports of progress between Washington and Tehran.
Trump’s remarks came amid heightened diplomatic efforts to end months of tension and conflict in the region, including disputes surrounding the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s nuclear programme. The US president stressed that while discussions were advancing, key issues remained unresolved.
According to reports, negotiations have focused on a potential ceasefire arrangement, reopening maritime routes in the Gulf, sanctions relief and limits on Iran’s uranium enrichment activities. However, officials on both sides have acknowledged that no final agreement has been reached.
Trump also reportedly instructed American negotiators to proceed carefully as criticism mounted from some Republican lawmakers and regional allies who fear that any rushed compromise could strengthen Tehran without addressing broader security concerns.
Despite the cautious tone, diplomatic sources say discussions between the United States and Iran have made progress in recent days, raising hopes of a broader de-escalation in the Middle East if negotiations eventually succeed.
